While working in a co-op studio in the 70's, I had the opportunity to explore many types of sculpture concepts and materials. The idea of using angles, spheres, and circles seemed to be dominant in my work, and continues today. 30 years as a cabinetmaker has honed my use of wood whether I am making fine furniture or creating a sculpture. Often, I use wood and metal together- the warm, sensual feel of the wood with the sharp lines and hard edge of the metal seem to enhance the qualities of each. While my use of metal was used to enhance the wood, it is now becoming a more dominant material for use in exterior work. Gary Manuel
